World Intellectual Property Day 2021

MONDAY, APRIL 26, 2021 AT 2 PM CDT – 3:30 PM CDT

Join the USPTO and its partner organizations in a special 90-minute program to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day 2021. This annual international event is an opportunity to learn about the role that intellectual property (IP) rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity. 
 
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Intellectual property and small businesses: Taking big ideas to market.” The program will include two live panels: the first will feature representatives of small businesses who will share their IP stories; the second will focus on the resources available to assist small businesses with their IP needs.

Learn to protect your IP on a budget

If you are an innovator, entrepreneur, or small business owner, do not miss your chance to learn about protecting your intellectual property on a reduced budget. Space is limited, so register early.

Tom Cowan, co-chair of Licensing Executives Society (LES) San Diego Chapter and partner at intellectual property and technology law firm Knobbe Martens, will present options that inventors and companies may consider for securing and maintaining intellectual property rights. In addition, USPTO’s Silicon Valley Regional Director Wayne Stacy will discuss USPTO resources available to assist the innovation and entrepreneur community.

Copyright basics and considerations for entrepreneurs and small businesses

If you are an entrepreneur, understanding copyrights will help your business succeed.  Register today for this free two-hour webinar, designed for U.S. entrepreneurs and small businesses to learn the basics of copyright and gain insights into copyright protection and enforcement.

 In this webinar, you will hear from experts at the USPTO's Office of Policy and International Affairs (OPIA). Additionally, a featured speaker from the U.S. Copyright Office will explain the process of copyright registration.

This program is organized by the Global Intellectual Property Academy (GIPA), a unit of the OPIA. Their copyright team advises the administration and other federal government departments and agencies on domestic and international copyright, legal, and policy issues. It also provides technical assistance and training on copyright-related matters to both U.S. and foreign government officials.
