AAU Contact Center temporary closure

The Application Assistance Unit (AAU) Contact Center will be closed Tuesday, April 28, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET. The unit will reopen at 1 p.m. ET.

During the closure, we advise customers to email HelpAAU@uspto.gov. Callers may also leave a voicemail with their contact information. We will respond to all emails and voicemails when the call center reopens.

Pre-examination notice revisions

Beginning April 22, USPTO customers will see changes to various pre-examination notices for patent applications. Some of these changes were made in response to feedback from customers.

In general, the revised notices:

• More clearly define the required items and corrections needed to complete the application and ready it for examination
• Create consistency between the practices for nonprovisional applications filed under 35 U.S.C. 111(a) and national stage applications under 35 U.S.C. 371

If you have questions regarding a pre-examination notice received in an application filed under 35 U.S.C. 111, please contact the Application Assistance Unit at (571) 272-4000. Questions regarding a pre-examination notice received in a national stage application under 35 U.S.C. 371 should be directed to the person listed on the notice or, alternatively, the PCT help desk at (571) 272-4300.

AAU contact center temporary closure

The USPTO Application Assistance Unit (AAU) contact center will be closed Thursday, Nov. 29, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. ET. 

During the closure, callers may leave a voicemail with their contact information or email HelpAAU@uspto.gov. AAU representatives will respond to emails and voicemails once the call center reopens at 2:30 p.m. ET.

The USPTO Application Assistance Unit (AAU) Contact Center will be closed Thursday, Sept. 14 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. During this time, callers may leave a voicemail message with their contact information or email HelpAAU@uspto.gov.

AAU Contact Center will be closed from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016

Please be advised that the USPTO Application Assistance Unit (AAU) Contact Center will be closed for a brief period on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p..m.  The AAU Contact Center will respond to e-mails and voice messages when it reopens at 1:30 p.m.
