New USPTO Director

On August 7, 2009 the U.S. Senate confirmed David Kappos as the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Kappos comes to the USPTO from IBM where, as vice president and assistant general counsel for intellectual property, he managed IBM's patent and trademark portfolios.
